Drew - 12 Months Old

Drew,

You are ONE YEAR OLD!  It seems like just yesterday I was doing laps around the neighborhood, eating spicy foods, and begging the doctor to predict the future and tell me you'd be born SOON!  Well, you were worth the wait!  We could not have imagined a more perfect little boy to join our family.  You have been so patient with us this year as we've adjusted to two children and have brought us more joy than we ever could have imagined!

At 12 months you are:

19 lbs 7 oz (20%)

30 inches (55%)

Head Circumference: 18 1/2 (75%)

You are wearing 6-12 month clothes and a size 3 diaper.  Your feet are so small and you're still a size 2.

You exude JOY!  You are so happy.  We have seen glimpses of small little tantrums but I still think they're cute. :)  You just fall over on the floor and cry for a second and then look up to see if we're watching.  Which we're probably not because we've got a big tantrum going on somewhere else.

Sorta.

You aren't walking yet but can stand for a couple seconds on your own and have taken a few steps.  I just don't think you're interested because you can get places faster crawling!

You have started drinking some whole milk and are nursing twice a day.  Hopefully by next month we will have transitioned completely to whole milk.  You love all food except fruit.  You throw it off your highchair tray immediately and have even picked the fruit out of muffins.  What gives?

Isn't this the funniest thing?  You just kept doing this cheesy smile today - I love it!  

Silly boy.  You aren't into toys as much as your brother.  You love tupperware, emptying out cabinets, exploring the house, and being outside.  I think you are going to be a handful in another year!

I think we are starting to transition down to 1 nap a day.  Some days you take 2 naps well and others not so much.  This is around when Jake switched so I might change it soon.  You sleep great at night and go to bed around 7 and get up around 7:30-8.

You also say a couple words!  You say "mama", "Uh Oh", "dog" (dah or gah), and Tucker "ga kuh" (or something like that).  You LOVE your doggies and will crawl under our bed to get to them.

Drewbie, We love you!  You have been a blessing this year and I hope the next year crawls along because I don't want you to be 2!

Drew's 1st Birthday Party

We had Drew's 1st birthday party on Saturday afternoon at a local "sprayground" here in The Woodlands.  We figured the only way we could get away with an outdoor party in June was if water was involved!  I regret not taking more pictures of the actual party set-up so you will just have to use your imagination - oops.

My favorite invitation designer from Etsy made Drew's invite.  She has done all our birthday invitations, birth announcements, and Christmas cards and is cheap (plus I think I get a discount because we use her so often!)  Check out the Proffitt Productions shop on Etsy.  She can make anything you want!

This is so hard to read but we had "Shades for your Safari" and "Treats for the Little Zookeepers".  My friend Jessie made the cutest zoo animal cookies that we gave out as party favors.  She worked so hard on them and I didn't even take individual pictures of them - makes me so mad!!!  But they tasted awesome and the kids loooved them.

The kids had a blast playing in the splashpad.  The parents all tried to steer clear but most of us ended up wet anyway.  And a little part of me wants to go back and run through it when nobody's looking!

I was so happy that Jake and all his friends had a great time too!  Jake is usually a little iffy about crowded areas.  I don't blame him.

And of course the birthday boy had a blast!

We don't have many pictures of just us and Drew!  We were so proud of him on his special day!  He did awesome.

(I should also add that when we did his 1 year pictures last week, we added a "cake smash" portion at the end and had the same reaction.  Who doesn't like cake??)

Mommy had to rescue him from the highchair and Drew actually ended up eating a couple bites of cupcake later on.  To compare the boys, we had to strip Jake naked at his 1st birthday because he was covered in cake.  Funny how he would never let that happen now!

We were so glad old friends and new friends could all join us to celebrate Drew!  Love the Bayles!

I don't know how I don't have more pictures of our family, seeing as I took over 150 but I promise Nonnie & Popo and Uncle Kyle & Aunt Emily were there playing too!  The boys were in hog heaven having so much family in town!

After the party we came home to open presents.  Jake had a hard time with this part...

...so he took the liberty of opening most presents.

Is anyone still reading??  We are so blessed by all the family and friends that love our little boys!  We had such a great weekend, and for once, it really wasn't a stressful party.  I guess I am just a seasoned veteran by now.  :)

Drew Turns One!

Our little "Drewbie" turned ONE on Friday! This past year has flown by...and we survived it! Ha.

We made muffins for the big day and sang Happy Birthday to Drew.

And this is what he thought of it.

Because my boys have an awesome Daddy, Seth took the day off to celebrate his big day and we went swimming at the neighborhood pool.

Both boys love being in the water and Jake got to show off some of his new skills from swim lessons!

Too tired to smile!  The pool wore the boys out and we came home for lunch and early naps!  I can't wait for the day that we can stay at the pool much longer and really get a tan have fun.

The celebrating continued on Saturday for Drew's 1st Birthday party...but you'll have to stay tuned...

...he can cry if he wants to!

Give me a day to wipe up all my tears and I will have loads of pictures to share from Drew's 1st birthday weekend!

School's Out for the Summer!

Jake finished his first year of preschool two weeks ago and we were so proud of him!  He grew leaps and bounds, even at such a young age.  I think the most important thing was learning to listen to other adults, sharing with other children, and walking in a line.  Gotta start somewhere, right? :)  Jake had the most wonderful teachers and we sure will miss them this summer!

Um...not quite what I had in mind for our last day of school picture but at some point I just had to give up.  But let's point out the redeeming qualities of this picture.

-He's not holding onto mommy (improvement)

-He is picking his nose (bad habit probably picked up from preschool friends)

-He let me put gel in his hair (improvement)

So, it looks like we ended up better off after all! :)  I promise to try harder next year.  

(At least he made it up to me by smiling pretty for our family pictures)
